Ryan McLean : Slightly Unconventional

First Post – Welcome To Ryan McLean

Hello and welcome everyone to RyanMcLean.net, though this blog has been around for some time it has been completely cleaned up and I have been given a clean slate to craft this blog into exactly what I want it to be.

Over the last 3 years I have spent blogging the major topics I have focused on have been making money online and personal finance. However, lately I have been feeling a little down and out about blogging in these niches because they are not in line with my purpose and the career path that I want to take myself down.

It is a hard thing to cast aside 15 months hard labor. I have poured a lot of myself into building my previous blog. But an entrepreneur needs to know when to quit. You should never stay in something because of the hard work you have done in the past, if it is not working for you then it is time to move on and start afresh.

I have learnt a lot over the last 3 years working online, mainly about myself and what I want to achieve in life.

I have found that there are some things more important than making money. They say that you don’t know what you’ve got until its gone and this is true in some aspects for me. During the last 15 months I have been mainly focusing on the quest to make money. But in this quest to make money I have actually been neglecting the things that are most important to me. My wife, my family, my social life and most importantly my relationship with God.

Due to this neglecting of the things that are of most value to me I have been feeling a growing sense of unfulfillment. I have been spending today reflecting and thinking about what my next move forward might be. Should I go and get a career in the workforce? Should I quit blogging all together? What do I want to do with my life?

I started thinking about what my purpose in life was and the one thing that actually stirred me to tears was to do exactly what God wants me to do. What exactly that is I do not know, and I believe it will change over time, but in order to fulfill that purpose I need to know what God wants me to do, and I therefore need to grow in my relationship with him.

Over the last 12 months I have experienced burnout, and what was once a growing relationship with God is now stagnant and bordering on non-existent. I want to feel like I am living a purpose filled life and I believe the only way for me to do that is to be in a good relationship with God. When I am in relationship with him everything else in my life tends to fall into place and I find that I am naturally living an all round wealthy life.

So welcome to the new RyanMcLean.net that will talk about how to live a wealthy life in all aspects from a Christian point of view. I am looking forward to contributing to this blog and seeing where it will progress to and what it will become. One thing I am going to be absolutely focused on is creating great content for all of my readers. I look forward to sharing my journey of living a wealthy life with all of you.

haha! a Thesis-ripoff theme. I like it. Definitely better than the previous custom theme you had. Nice start for the ryanmclean.net

Hey Ryan I like this theme very much but it would be much better if it would be in three column.

pretty nice theme, clean look to it. only thing is i would have the front page set to show an excerpt of the post instead of the whole thing, that way you can show more posts, just my 2 cents not worth much but i figured i give it a little criticism =]
