“HAPPY NEW YOU”
This is what my 2 year old daughter says when we try to get her to say “happy new year“. It is a mispronunciation but it is also a very interesting concept.
Every year millions of people all over the world have this concept in their mind. That somehow this year they are going to be a new person, that somehow being better will solve everything.
I used to do this each year when I was a teenager.
However, 2012 was a great year for me:
– My daughter turned 2 and developed so much she could tell me “Daddy I live hanging out with you
– My son turned one and I discovered how much he lives wrestling and tickling on the bed
– I got a new job in face-to-face sales which I loved and thrived at
– I relocate to Newcastle and then the Central Coast
– I made new friends, all excellent people
– I had many great times with my wife…my favourite being our holiday to Ballina
With such a great year behind me I don’t feel the need to instantly become a “new person”. I am happily looking forward to 2013 being the person I am.
Sure I could change and few things and fix a few bad habits. But overall they seem small in comparison to the parts of my life I love.
So for me 2013 is not about “HAPPY NEW YOU” it’s just about “HAPPY YOU”.
Enjoying each step of the journey and striving to be the best I can be. For my wife, for my kids, for my family, for my friends and for my company.
Some small goals for 2013
– Mac 3.0
– New Car
– New House
– Write more (for fun)
– Develop my career (no new side business this year)
